Eric Conroy, PGA – econroy@thousandoaksgc.com

Eric is in his second season as Head Golf Professional at Thousand Oaks Golf Club, serving prior as an Assistant Professional for three years.  He came to Thousand Oaks from Southern California at Rancho La Quinta Country Club prior to that.  Eric is a Rockford, MI native and a graduate of the Professional Golf Management program at Ferris State University.  In addition to working at Rancho La Quinta, Eric has worked at Sutton Bay in Agar, SD, and Cherry Creek Country Club in Denver, CO. From his past experience at these facilities, Eric has gained extensive knowledge in all aspects of the game. During his free time, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife Makayla and his two dogs Henley and Ryder.

 

Assistant Golf Professional

Jon Mercer – jmercer@thousandoaksgc.com

Jon is in his third season here at Thousand Oaks Golf Club and in his second season as an Assistant Golf Professional. Jon came from Pagosa Springs Golf Club in Pagosa Springs, Colorado where he was the manager of golf operations for 3 seasons. There he ran all golf related events, outings and daily play. Jon started in the golf business as a maintenance employee at Wallingwood Springs Golf Club in Jenison, MI. Jon grew up in the Grand Rapids area and graduated from Ferris State University. During his free time he is enjoying time with his wife Allie and their two dogs, while working on his new house or watching the Red Wings.

 

Assistant Golf Professional

Grant Hansen – ghansen@thousandoaksgc.com

Grant is in his first season as an Golf Professional at Thousand Oaks Golf Club. He started his golf career as a teenager working on the grounds crew and assisting in the golf shop at a 9 hole course in Smyrna Michigan, Ridgeview Golf Club. Grant is from Belding, a town on the outskirts of Grand Rapids. In 2017 Grant started at Candlestone Golf Resort as the Assistant Golf Professional and left at the beginning of 2022 as the Director of Golf. From starting as a teenager to working up to managing the golf operations he has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in the business and game of golf. During Grant’s free time he enjoys spending time with his fiancé Kat, his dogs Buddha and Clyde, and family. Please say hello to Grant next time you are in the golf shop.

Raquel Bryant has been instructing at Thousand Oaks Golf Club since 2009, when she became a PGA Professional.  Raquel played collegiate golf at Ferris State University on a nationally competitive golf team.  Raquel instructs women’s clinics, coaches a PGA Junior League team, and runs Thousand Oaks Junior Golf Program.  Raquel was awarded the Michigan PGA Youth Player Development Award in 2015.  Contact Raquel for individual lessons, group clinics, or for any other golf instruction needs.

Charley Vandenberg, a Master PGA Professional,  is one of the elite golf instructors in the country. His passion for teaching and enthusiasm for helping others improve every aspect of their game has resulted in nominations for the Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year award on 15 different occasions, capturing the title in 1998, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2014 (winning this prestigious award five times is unprecedented in the state of Michigan). Charley was also a Top 6 Finalist for the 2010 National PGA Teacher of the Year honor and Top 4 Finalist in 2012.

 

Kelly Plaisier, PGA – kplaisier@thousandoaksgc.com

Kelly Plaisier brings ten years of PGA teaching experience from across the United States.  She has spent time teaching in Salt Lake City, Chicago, and most recently, Denver.  A former Division I golfer, Kelly earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and has developed and refined her teaching style through a life spent in the golf industry.  After spending the past year and a half teaching at the prestigious Trent Wearner Golf Academy, in Denver, CO, Kelly will play an integral role at the Thousand Oaks Golf Academy this summer.

With a confidence to teach all demographics, her expertise working with women and juniors sets her apart and shows in the improvement of her students.  She strives to turn high school golfers into college players.  With a wealth of experience and a wonderful demeanor we are fortunate to have Kelly as part of the academy.

Brian Kotowicz brings 20 years of teaching experience to Thousand Oaks Golf Academy. Brian has been a PGA Professional since 1999 and is excited to begin teaching and fitting at Thousand Oaks Golf Academy. He has been the Head Golf Professional at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club for the last 18 years and wants to focus on improving golfers of all ages.
